26th of October 2024
Rubio
Praised by Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Billboard for her alchemical blend of dark avant-pop, Rubio is the award-winning creation of Chilean artist, songwriter and producer Fran Straube. With several critically acclaimed albums, such as 2018's Pez, 2020's Mango Negro and 2023's Venus & Blue. Rubio shapes her textural pop sound by fusing elements of EDM, trip-hop, with some influences from reggaeton, dembow and trap.
Despite the ghostly, tremulous cadence of his vocals, carried by torrential basslines, Rubio's intimate lyricism clearly cuts through his digitized melodies, her deeply evocative songs as vulnerable as they are unsettling to the frenetic, consumerist ethos of the music industry.Rubio displays her enormous star power in dynamic live performances where she serves as lead vocalist, guitarist, keyboardist and percussionist. Rubio has landed coveted slots at festivals such as Lollapalooza, Primavera Sound, The Great Escape and Ceremonia, to name a few.
Rubio's music has also been featured on hit television shows such as Élite, Reina del Sur and Señorita 89. Rubio composed the soundtrack for the 2022 Emmy-winning film La Caída. That same year, he received the prestigious Mexican Diosa de Plata award for best song from La Caída, “Después de Ahogarme”. In her national debut, Rubio performs at the closing of the L Concerts, 2024 edition.
