"Over the past few years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to Brazil regularly, whether to perform or to record. On one of those trips, I met a wonderful singer: Zé Ibarra. I loved hearing him perform, and even more, getting to know him. I invited him to discover Madeira and the Estalagem. And, as it turns out… how could anyone say no to paradise?We’ll be playing mostly Zé’s music, but who knows—we might also perform a song or two by another fellow Madeiran.” André Santos
It has become a tradition in the L Concerts : an evening in which renowned Madeiran guitarist André Santos takes on the role of host, inviting outstanding musicians to join him on the Estalagem stage for a unique artistic residency.This year, he welcomes Zé Ibarra, widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices of Brazil’s new generation of musicians. With sophisticated songwriting and a remarkable voice, his music blends MPB, jazz, Latin American popular music, and contemporary songwriting. Alongside his solo career, he was a member of the acclaimed collective Bala Desejo, winner of a Latin Grammy Award.Together, André Santos and Zé Ibarra promise a one-of-a-kind encounter, celebrating the musical ties between Madeira and Brazil in an intimate and unforgettable performance.
